PARTNER SCHOOL OF GOETHE INSTITUT INDONESIA

Saint Peter’s School has been chosen by the Goethe Institute Indonesia as a partner school. As the ceremonial partnership we had a special event of the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Goethe Institute Indonesia and Saint Peter’s School which was held in Saint Peter Auditorium, 7^th Floor Building B at 3 p.m. on the August 12, 2010. Before the signing of MoU, Mr. Steffen Correll, the Director of Goethe Institute Indonesia addressed the audience more or less about what is the meaning of partnership, why is Saint Peter’s School selected as being a partner school, how the partnership has to be implemented, who will get the benefits, etc. It is good to hear that the reason of selecting Saint Peter’s School among many schools in Indonesia as a partner school of Goethe Institute Indonesia is that Saint Peter’s School considered as one of the best schools. It is good to be informed that German language has been taught since year 7, this fact will probably make our students fluent in German language after year 12 studying at Saint Peter’s School.

The are several advantages of becoming partner of Goethe Institute, such as there will be selected students who are learning German language as a choice to be sent to Germany for three weeks, or the best German language students will be sent to join International gathering, or students will have a change to get scholarship to do higher studies in Germany, or German teachers will be sent to follow teacher training program in Germany or in Indonesia itself, and many other advantages. The MoU was signed by Mr. Steffen Correll as the director of Goethe Institute Indonesia and by Mr. Martin Hahn as the director of education of Saint Peter’s School, witnessed by Ms. Claudia Ruppert, the First Secretary and Head of Press and Cultural Affairs of the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Jakarta.

The principals of KG, Primary, Junior High, Senior High and International Units were also witnessing it, beside some student parents and all students of Junior and Senior High Schools. The event was wonderfully entertained by musical instrument of Senior High Students, German and English songs by Junior High Students and Senior High School teachers’ choir. The capability of speaking German language was expressed in the opening and closing prayers which were solemnly delivered in German by our best students.Thanking you for your good cooperation and participation on this event.

SUCCESSFUL IGCSE AND AS LEVEL EXAMS

IGSCE and AS Level Cambridge Examination Results of Saint Peter Senior High School students who appeared on last May-June 2010 exams are as follows:

We would like to appreciate all teachers who teach and coach students to gain their academic excellence. PERSONALITY ASSESSMENT and SEMINAR

We are going to have a personality assessment for all students of year 10, 11 and 12. We are using MBTI (Myers-Briggs Type Indicator) Test to be completed with GAT (General Ability Test). By following this tests we will get a lot of wonderful self-knowledge, such as general characteristic of personality, self potency and talent, some “detected” weaknesses and how to overcome, self-values, appropriate major/study program/faculty or even job, multiple intelligence, IQ score, etc.

This personality assessment are going to be held on August 14, 2010, Saturday, at 8 to 10 a.m. in class rooms, 5 th floor, Building B of Saint Peter’s School.

We will distribute the result about four (4) days after the test. Students and their parents have discussed it at least 3 days before attending the FREE SEMINAR for parents and teachers which will be held on:

BACK TO CAMPUS

Here it is. The new academic year begins on July 12, 2010. The first week of school days contains a lot of meetings to discuss and communicate school programs for the whole academic year, but it is also important that the first one week all teachers and staff have a good opportunity to meet, to introduce and to know each other deeply for the purpose of creating a good team work in building Saint Peter’s School excellence. That is why on the day two of this new academic year all teachers and staff joined together in Putri Duyung Hotel, Ancol, to follow a half day training on how to be a professional teacher, which was led by our Director of Education, Mr. Dr. Martin Hahn, who is also a good motivator on education. After lunch we had an outbound activity. All teachers and staff were enthusiastically participating in this program which was held in the Outbound Holic ground. The whole program was closed with a dinner party at Seaside Suki Restaurant. We have to appreciate to our foundation for such interesting program.

How about our students? Well, these last two days, July 15-16, 2010, OSIS is making an Orientation Days (which is so called MOS) for the new students. Hopefully by this MOS, all new comers will know deeply and love dearly their “alma mater”, so that they are able to enjoy studying at Saint Peter’s School to have a strong root, to build a solid faith and of course to achieve their academic excellence.

Grade 6 Final Exam

Grade 6 students of Saint Peters Primary School have started their final lap of their final academic year at Saint Peters Primary School. They have been working hard for the last few months as a preparation on their final exams which officially started this week with their practical exams.

They have to prove their knowledge and skills in 10 different subjects. Religion, English Language, Art and Craft, Science, Music Art, Indonesian Language, IT, Physical Education, Mandarin, and PLBJ.

Sofar they been participating in 4 Try Outs with satisfying results. We still have about three weeks to go to the National Exam. Let us all support and pray for these students, because this will be the first batch of Primary students who will graduate from this school. We wish them all the best of luck.

Admitted to ITB

Almost all students of Grade XII Saint Peter Senior High School are already accepted in many different universities both domestic and abroad. Among them, some students are still trying to get seats in the government universities, such as Universitas Indonesia, ITB, etc. And today we got a good news because four students of Saint Peter’s who appeared in the admission test to ITB (Institut Teknologi Bandung) are admitted. Those are 1. Ivana Prema Darwin (Pharmacy), 2. Samuella Magdalena E. (Architecture), 3. Darren (Industrial Technology) and 4. Maria Florencia (Pharmacy). This is a belated news from Gadjah Mada University, that one of SMA Saint Peter students is admitted there. He is Petrus Sian Edvansa (International Law). Congratulations to all of you!

National Science Olympiad 2010

Unlike last year’ this time we have only two students who are selected to the National Science Olympiad 2010 in the region of Jakarta utara, those are: 1. Nathania Ekaputri Suryadi (Chemistry), and 2. Anthony (Biology). Congratulations! Go ahead. And for those who are not selected, we thank you for your participation. We need serious preparation for this academic activities.
