SHARING THE HOLY SPIRIT

Our meditation today has the theme: Sharing the Holy Spirit. The purpose of this expression of sharing the Holy Spirit is that after receiving help and outpouring of the Holy Spirit, a person has a mission to share with others the gifts of the Holy Spirit.

That person shares it in line with his or her mission, for example, the Holy Spirit is made present into a family where father and mother really create their good marital relationship, so that it has a positive influence on the whole family. They love and appreciate each other well and with good will, that it has a healthy and meaningful impact to the family as well. There are more examples of how everyone of us can share various gifts of the Holy Spirit.

At the moment of farewell with the leaders of the Church of Ephesus, Saint Paul strengthened their hearts with the encouragement that the Holy Spirit had truly established faith in them. Saint Paul was empowered by the Holy Spirit, and he too shared these gifts of confirmation and conviction with the other Christians. They were together in one path, which was a life controlled and filled with the Holy Spirit. This affirmation aimed to strengthen and encourage faith in every one of them.

Why do we share the Holy Spirit? There are several important reasons. The first is because God Himself has shared what is purely from Himself. He who is a holy and perfect Lord in heaven, wants to share His life with human beings through the Son of God incarnated in Jesus Christ, then Jesus Himself sent His Spirit for us. God has shared, and so we must also be able to share from ourselves.

The second reason would be the Holy Spirit who always moves and works. He moved every person of the Early Church and then initiated their works of evangelization as they did not remain silent or hidden. Each of them was moving in and out to every corner of the world to testify about Jesus Christ. We must also do the same in our movements and works to share the Gospel of Jesus with others.

The third reason is about the Church in obedience to Jesus’ command, she works in all measures to make disciples of all nations. The Church has a fundamental duty to send every member to share the Holy Spirit that brings all goodness, joy and truth to the whole world. Sharing with others in the unity with Jesus Christ is a concrete form of implementing the spirit and purpose of the prayer of Jesus Christ for us. May we become one like Him who is one with the Father. Let’s pray. In the name of the Father … O Lord Jesus Christ, in waiting for the Holy Spirit to come, we put our faith in You, our teacher and Lord. Strengthen us with Your blessings and love so that in this moment of waiting we will always focus in our hearts and minds. Glory to the Father … In the name of the Father …
